There are six race weekends that separate us from the end of the 2023 F1 season. One of the longest seasons in history with 23 races, which actually turned out to be very short due to the undisputed domination of Red Bull which, were it not for Carlos Sainz's victory in Singapore, would have brought Milton Keynes a first place in all the races held. All eyes are therefore already focused on the next season which brings with it a breeze of change, a small preview of the storm that will hit the circus in 2026. The new 2024 regulation was released a few days ago by the Federation, what new features does it bring?
The elimination of tyrewarmers has been postponed
Sustainability has, rightly, become a central topic in the development of many industries, starting from the food industry, up to our beloved F1. Well, among the proposals made to reduce the emissions produced by the circus, in the 2024 regulation we should have said goodbye to tyrewarmers. La Pirelli However, it raised doubts about the reliability of the new structure designed for the tyre, which when stripped would have had to go from an "ambient" temperature to the very high temperatures that can be reached in the race without problems, which is why the decision to postpone to take advantage of more hours of testing. Furthermore, the drivers themselves have complained about the absence of the tools necessary to guarantee safety on the track. Everything has been postponed until 2025, therefore with a vote that will take place by 31 July next year, as stated in the regulation.

200km free
Each team is entitled to two filming days during the season” born as marketing events useful for sponsors to obtain videographic material, but have always been used by the teams to test the cars and updates, based on when you decide to use themAnd. During the 2023 season the teams had a total of two days of filming available with a maximum limit of 100km per day. In 2024, the kilometers granted to the teams for filming will be doubled. 200km will be accessible on each promotional day.
A stricter 2024 regulation regarding curfews
The curfew in F1 is divided into three bands. The first which precedes the first testing session of the weekend by 42 hours and which ends 29 hours before it. The second which includes the night and morning of Friday testing, you cannot touch the car up to 4 hours before the session. The third includes the rest of the weekend. Exceptions granted by the FIA, with which the teams could have avoided the curfew, in 2023 there were 4 in the first curfew band, 3 in the second and 2 in the third. The new 2024 regulation instead provides that each team will have only 2 "jokers" per bracket available for the entire season.
How will teams adapt to these changes and who will be able to make the most of them?
