Ferrari does not give up and asks for justice. Following of the five-second penalty given to Carlos Sainz at the end of the Australian Grand Prix, stable of Maranello presented appeal to the FIA in the hope of being able to change the sentence.
Ferrari presents the appeal
During the morning, precisely at 08.00, the FIA and Ferrari met online to discuss what happened in Melbourne. The contact sees protagonists Aston Martin by Fernando Alonso and the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz. Ferrari tried to explain, carrying several evidence, as in reality the mistake that led to the contact was made by Fernando Alonso, immediately looking for a trajectory crossing to attack Hamilton in turn 3.

The decision of the FIA
Following the meeting, the FIA's decision arrived: appeal rejected. Nothing to do therefore for Ferrari and for Carlos Sainz who confirms his five-second penalty and its twelfth position. In this regard, we report the considerations of the Federation:
“The stewards say they had some telemetry, while in his statement, Sainz accused of having the sun in his eyes and poor grip on cold tires (and other rider comments confirmed the poor grip) but the stewards felt that "it is not a justifiable reason to avoid a penalty for a collision". One of the other reasons why all the comments from Sainz and other drivers, including Alonso, were not taken into account was that the stewards carried out the call in the race, stating that if they felt a statement was relevant, they would investigate later. ”.
