Eyes to the sky this weekend and not only because we are racing on a track that is particularly dear to Formula 1 and its greatest protagonists. But mostly because the clouds are ready to unload in Brazil. Especially during the weekend for Saturday and Sunday are scheduled rains torrential, an ingredient that also in the past here has conditioned the outcome of the race.
The last wet GP at Interlagos dates back to 2016. On that occasion, a real universal flood fell. This weekend does not seem to be outdone, moreover, let's remember, we will have two races with the Sprint. Which also means that we will have to field well before Saturday, as qualifying is on Friday at 20:00. With these premises, and, also considering the rather chaotic start of 2021, in which, among other things, the two redheads risked repeating themselves in the fratricidal clash that involved Vettel and Leclerc in 2019, let's see our advice for forecasts at Fanta.
Our choices
Safety Car: YES
It would certainly not be new to see Safety take to the track in Brazil, especially if the weather brings rain.
Virtual Safety Car: NO
We don't focus on the virtual despite bringing so many points.
Red Flag: YES
It's not common in Brazil but supporting the thesis of the universal flood we can't rule out seeing a race interrupted by weather conditions. This time, unlike Suzuka, we try.
Drivers distinguish between wet/full wet tires in the race: SI
One last dance in the rain, come on. The forecasts at the moment leave no way out. Then having one day less to see how the weather changes, since there is the Sprint, we go by instinct.
Team double in the race: DO NOT
Lewis Hamilton longing for the first victory of the season, Charles Leclerc wants to reach his first podium in Brazil, Max has reason to believe that he can break even more the record of victories of the season. Everyone would have a thousand reasons to do well here. Three battling stables, uncertain conditions. Anything can happen and getting a double even with a race in between will be really tough.
Driver who starts on pole wins the race: DO NOT
For this forecast, the driver who is considered for Pole is the one who sets the best time in Friday's qualifying. For example, the "SI" would be valid if Verstappen should he take Pole on Friday, and win on Sunday, regardless of the result obtained on Saturday in the sprint race. For this prediction, however, we choose NO.
Stables to bring both riders into the top 10: 3
As a last forecast, we choose a lower number for the teams to bring both riders into the top 10
Drivers forced to retire: 4
Instead we return to a higher number for withdrawals.
