Mattia doesn't use too many words binotto. The anger of the team principal of Ferrari, at the end of Japanese Grand Prix, it is quite evident.
Leclerc penalized
The main topic, as for some weeks now, is the FIA. In fact, at the end of the Japanese GP, the Federation has chosen to award five seconds of penalty to Charles Leclerc for having "taken advantage" by cutting the curve on Sergio Perez. Despite crossing the finish line second, the Monegasque finished third in the standings thanks to the penalty. Via this decision, Japanese GP winner Max Verstappen graduated World Champion for the second consecutive year.
Binotto: "Ridiculous and unacceptable decision"
However, Mattia Binotto's response was not long in coming which, exclusively on Sky Sport F1, said.
“Let's start by congratulating Max, well done and for his victory today. He has driven excellently all season. On the FIA and on Leclerc's penalty, I honestly have little desire to comment. I think it is now a ridiculous and unacceptable thing. In the last race they took an infinite number of laps to decide something which, by the way, makes little sense. Today, a few seconds and they once again decide something that, in our opinion, makes no sense. There was no lead gained by Charles because he was in front and stayed in front. When we saw the notice for unfair advantage, we were sure that nothing would have happened and instead, a few seconds later, they decided, without hearing from the drivers this time, a five-second penalty. Likewise the start today, without setting off behind the Safety Car in critical conditions, then a crane on the track: a whole series of events which show that the situation is not simple and that it needs to be improved".
