The hottest topic of these last few weeks is definitely the farewell by Mattia Binotto from Ferrari as team principal of the Scuderia. Right there red it still stands looking for his replacement and Binotto himself a new location.
Toto Wolff on old frictions with Binotto
Among the many teams combined with the former TP of the Maranello team there was la Mercedes. In recent days, however, the German company has confirmed the presence of Toto wolff also for the 2023 season, a season that will be fundamental after a year that can be defined bankruptcy given the 15 world titles in 8 years. Wolff himself spoke on this topic during the official F1 Podcast “Beyond the Grid”. The team principal spent some nice words towards Binotto, but remembering how the role he has occupied in recent years is probably the most delicate of the circus. “Ferrari team principal is one of the best positions, but it is clear that you are under enormous pressure. If you're the boss of Ferrari, it's always good to have a good exit contract.".
“It lasted longer than I thought”
The Austrian then continued being surprised by how Binotto has endured for so long and remembering the old ones friction among them that would dispel all possible rumors of his landing in the house of the Star: "Now the inevitable has happened, but frankly it has held up longer than I thought. At Ferrari the pressure is greater than in any other team, because it represents an entire country. Mattia's replacement must be a great Italian managerial talent. Binotto at Mercedes? I don't think it's possible, it's no secret that there has been some friction between us. What is certain is that Mattia knows F1 inside out, he can easily find a place in another team".
