News for the great Formula 1 fans in Australia is always around the corner. After renewal that the Circus signed with the Albert Park layout six months ago, another one has arrived which has extended the agreement already in force even further. Indeed, the news has become official that the Australian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2037.
GP Australia, the renewal until 2037 arrives
Six months ago, Formula 1 announced the extension of the contract for the Australian Grand Prix until 2035. A great result for the stage which, in the pre-Covid era, kicked off the start of the new season. The new agreement does not rule out the possibility that this tradition could return starting from 2025, as in 2023 it will stop in Bahrain, while in 2024 Saudi Arabia will very likely start the dance.
Westacott: “Incredible result”
For Australia this renewal is certainly a source of great pride, considering the many stages who hope to host a Grand Prix of Formula 1 and those that instead, see the French, have been excluded from next season's calendar. The CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Andrew Westacott recounted the great result achieved.
“To have secured what is now an additional 15 years of mandate for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne is an outstanding achievement. It delivers so many benefits to our city, our economy and our exceptional events industry, not to mention the aspiration it provides for young Australians pursuing their motorsport dreams."
