Not even time to celebrate winning the Formula 2 title, the future has already been announced of the champion Felipe Drugovich.
Drugovich in Aston Martin: it's official
In fact today Aston Martin has announced that Drugovich will be the new driver for the development of the car. A new beginning therefore for the Brazilian driver, who could not have competed in F2 in 2023 as he won this year. A fresh start for Drugovich who wanted to express his emotion in this way.
“Becoming a member of the AMF1 Driver Development Program is a fantastic opportunity for me, adding to what has been a hugely enjoyable and successful 2022 season. Winning in Formula 2 has long been considered the best stepping stone to a career in Formula One, and I see my role at AMF1 as a way to give me all the tools to take the next step. For me 2023 will be a learning curve: I will be working with the F1 team, but my main focus is to learn and grow as a driver. I hope this gives me the opportunity to race in Formula One in the future“.
Welcome from Lawrence Stroll
In addition to the pilotMP Motorsport, they were not lacking the words of the boss of the Aston Martin Lawrence Stroll:
“I am very proud to have launched the AMF1 Driver Development Programme: I am a strong believer in nurturing young talent and this is a fantastic way to help develop the next generation of drivers. We have watched and admired Felipe's journey to Formula 2 success this year, and we aim to provide him with all the skills and experience he needs to take the next step in his career. It would be definitive confirmation if Felipe became a Formula 1 driver, joining the great pantheon of Brazilian drivers such as Emerson Fittipaldi and Ayrton Senna."
