Just a couple of hours after the presentation of the McLaren MCL60 it fell to Aston Martin to present the 2023 car: the AMR23. The new single-seater, the first of the two-time world champion's post-Alpine adventure Fernando Alonso, who will join Lance Stroll in 2023 was presented at Silverstone, in the team factory. One of the most anticipated single-seaters, after the first presentations, is the AMR23. Also because it was announced as one of the few to fully reveal the project without renderings or show cars. The team finished the season on a high note, and have big ambitions for 2023.
An important year to keep believing
Aston Martin aims to become a top team in the next 3-5 years. Almost two years ago, in March 2021, Lawrence Stroll outlined a five-year plan to reach the top. This is the goal that drives work and investment in new cutting-edge infrastructure. At the moment the road is still long but in 2023 the first important steps will be taken. The first part of the new factory should be ready and operational by May. The cars will be designed in this first part, which will represent the main building for the team. The second building will house the new wind tunnel, which should be ready by the third quarter of 2024.
It goes without saying that the dreams and ambitions of all the men and women who have decided to embrace this project are hidden in the 2023 single-seater.
Lots of greenery, and Red Bull philosophy
The AMR23 changes almost nothing from last season's emerald green livery. The Aston Martin logo, as well as the writing returns to white. The fluorescent green line that follows the design of the car from the nose to the rear of the train remains. While the other fluorescent details disappear, on the rear wing and on the fin on the engine hood. Overall it is graphically more homogeneous. We'll see if even in this case more black will appear on the livery at the end of the season.

In terms of form, the AMR23 takes up some concepts already adopted with updates last season aimed at emulating what Red Bull did, and partly also by Ferrari with various evolutions. In fact, after a rather stormy start, the team reversed course. Experimenting with solutions that have brought her to a better position.
The AMR23, which also celebrates the 110th anniversary of the birth of the Aston Martin brand, is more aggressive than the previous one. The front wing is different, as are the sidepods and a different engine cover that includes a larger roll hoop inlet.

"We want to go up the grid – Said Technical Director Dan Fallows – and start challenging the teams up front, and you can't do that by sitting back and being careful. The AMR23 is a significant development of the car we refined in the second half of 2022 and improved it in every critical area. It optimizes the solutions we believed would give us the best performance and embodies the common vision we have embraced and built together over the last few months. "
Alonso's words
Fernando Alonso has already settled in and he can't wait to be able to drive a different single-seater on the track, capable of fighting in the middle of the group. “We absolutely have to, if possible, lead that midfield and get closer to the top three teams.", explained the Asturian. “The most important thing for me this year is just making sure that this car and this baseline is what we will develop for future Aston Martins. I think last year the package struggled a bit, as we all saw from the outside. This is the very first car under this new set of regulations which Aston Martin will hopefully develop in the future."
