Situation in full development. In Formula One, as summer approaches, things start to heat up more and more pilots market that, never like in this season, can give you many surprises.
Aston Martin at the forefront
Let's talk about Aston Martin. The English team, at least for the moment, it's not living up to expectations at all. The car, the AMR22 gives no results and it is very difficult for both Vettel and Stroll to find the right feeling. In fact, the German is currently in fifteenth place in the drivers' standings, with only 5 points earned. Even greater difficulty for his teammate Lance Stroll, only seventeenth with 2 points. Even the changes seen and made in Barcelona, where Aston was accused of having copied Red Bull, did not bring the expected results.
The new name
For Lawrence Stroll's team, the time has come to think about the future. Starting with the line-up for next season. In fact, it now seems obvious Sebastian Vettel's farewell at the end of the year, ready to greet the Formula One. Sebastian has already made it clear, through some actions and above all declarations, that this it could be his last time in the Circus. For these reasons, Aston Martin is looking for a replacement. In addition to the usual Fernando Alonso, who remains waiting to understand what Alpine wants to do with Piastri, in the last hours a new name bounces forcefully at Silverstone and that would seem to be it by Mick Schumacher.
The motivations
The Haas driver he's not going through an easy time. His start to the season was undoubtedly one of the most difficult, among accidents(like the last one in Munich) and various withdrawals. German he has not yet collected a point this season. So why would Aston Martin be ready to bet on him? For a choice entirely of strategy. In fact, the British company wants to expand the market for its GTs in Germany and a German like Schumacher could represent it the perfect identikit.
However, it won't be a walk in the park. Mick is in fact under contract with Ferrari and, if it wanted to make a deal with Aston Martin, it should first free himself from the Maranello team. At that point, however, the Prancing Horse would have to start looking for a new driver to propose to Haas.
Alonso hypothesis
Also for this reason, Aston Martin does not rule out the possibility of signing Fernando Alonso. However, the question regarding the Spanish rider is also delicate. The forty-year-old world champion is indeed still waiting for the response from Alpine. Work is underway on the renewal, but it is not excluded that the French team could ultimately opt for Oscar Piastres who, no matter what, will have a seat in Formula One next year.
