THEAston Martin in the early morning it unveiled the car for the 2024 F1 season, the AMR24, single-seater from the second season in green for Fernando Alonso, who will have Lance Stroll at his side. Last year the team experienced ups and downs, achieving 8 podiums – most in the early stages of the season, but failing to be consistent. This had an impact above all on the team's position in the standings, and on Fernando Alonso, who gradually dropped from second place to fourth place. Stroll instead finished in tenth position while the team, initially second force, allowed itself to be overtaken by Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren. Aston Martin's 2023 season, however, cannot be considered a failure given the performance of 2022.
But now what all the fans are wondering is: will the AMR24 mark the next step forward for the team led by Lawrence Stroll? To find out we should wait for the tests and the first races. But let's see how the new arrival at Aston Martin, the AMR24, presented today at Silverstone, looks like where the team also performed the shakedown.
Attention to detail counts in the AMR24
Last season, the AMR23 began to experience the first difficulties following the introduction of the updates. For this reason the team had to change course, presenting the AMR24 as an answer to past challenges. However, the risk of replicating the problems persists, and for this reason the new car will be subjected to greater attention in pre-season testing. And in reality a small problem has already been identified by Fernando Alonso during the simulation phase. In fact, Fernando declared that he had encountered a problem with the steering after approximately 120 laps on the simulator. A solvable problem, which the team is already working on but which makes it clear how important every single detail is.
The first images of the AMR24, Aston Martin's new car for the 2024 season
Although 2023 marks a significant step forward for Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso has identified two areas to work on in order for the team to remain at the top of the table. The first problem of the AMR23 was in fact linked to the narrow operational window, an aspect exacerbated with the updates. The second is straight line speed. All aspects that the team has started working on.
The livery of the new arrival at Aston Martin maintains the color of the previous single-seaters, green and acid yellow for the details. Not giving in too much to the charm of carbon fiber to save weight, as done instead by Haas, McLaren, Sauber, Alpine. From the images you can't see many differences with the previous single-seater but we believe some details are deliberately hidden. One of the differences compared to the contenders is the shorter nose, attached to the wing on the second element instead of the first as on other single-seaters. The front wing design has been modified to help manage front wheel slip more efficiently.
Furthermore, the team chose the same suspension scheme - that is, the push rod for both the front and rear. The flaring of the bellies remains although on the AMR24 a revision of these has been undertaken to improve the management of air flow around the floor and over the rear wing.

The words of team principal Mike Krack
Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack also spoke during the presentation of the AMR24 in the new factory in Silverstone.
“We are proud to present the AMR24”Said Team Principal, Mike Krack . “It is the result of a huge effort from the entire team at our new AMR Technology Campus and will allow the team to take another step forward in 2024. Since the last race in 2023, everyone has been hyper focused on improvements in every aspect . focusing our efforts on what really makes a difference, what really matters to be better. Almost every area of the car has been refined and improved, building on our strengths and learning from the lessons of the previous campaign. 2023 has been our best season to date and our aim this season is to consistently score points, podiums and fight for our first win in green.”
Dan Fallows, Technical Director, explains how the team approached the creation of the AMR24: “Even with stable regulations, there are endless possibilities for refinement. I would call the AMR24 a strong evolution of last year's car and it looks very different with lots of new parts to tweak. “It will give us a solid platform for development. The chassis design is new, as is the nose, front wing, front and rear suspension. We want to compete in the development race this season and this car is designed to do just that.
“Another area of interest has been to broaden the operational window of the car. We focused on greater versatility for a wider range of circuit-specific characteristics. We want a race car that is more of an all-rounder. We believe the AMR24 offers the ideal platform solution for seasonal development and sustained challenge throughout the season.”
