Motorsport.com launched the indiscretion: according to the newspaper, in fact, the famous "AlphaTauri RB” present in the list released by the Federation is none other than a temporary name, with a view to announcing the real one in February.
New name AlphaTauri, we are waiting
The Faenza team, therefore, unlike the Sauber - that has his new name has been made official – doesn't take off the mask yet. The rumors about the possible new name of AlphaTauri for the 2024 Formula 1 season continue to exist: it seems, in fact, that the famous acronym RB does not stand, as initially thought, for Red Bull (to which Alpha will be even more closely linked from next season) but a Racing Bulls, or what should be the real name of the team next year.
With an eye to 2024
We are still waiting for confirmation, but it is likely that AlphaTauri may choose to reveal its new name starting from February, when in addition to the presentation of the car we will get more and more into the heart of the session tests in Bahrain, which will anticipate the start of the season as always. The team will be captained by Mekies, who will take over as team principal, replacing Tost. Not an easy mission for the former Ferrari, who will have the task of redeeming a less than brilliant 2023 by the team linked to Red Bull.
After a first part of 2023 in which Alpha had finished in last place in the constructors' standings, the replacement of De Vries - replaced first by Ricciardo and the Lawson (for a couple of races) – allowed, thanks also to the excellent work of Tsunoda, to rise to at least eighth place. Not a brilliant result, but it can certainly be a good starting point for next season.
