Indiscretion denied: AlphaTauri is not for sale. This is what emerged from the press release published this morning by the Faenza team, which denies the news of a few days ago, reporting the words of team principal Tost.
The beginning of it all
But let's go in order: during i test days in Bahrain, a rumor had been published about the possibility that AlphaTauri would have been on the market had it not moved its headquarters from Faenza to England. The motivation was linked to a model considered by Red Bull's top management to be unsatisfactory, characterized by an office in Faenza (the central one) and one in Bicester in England (on the aerodynamic side).
Marko: “Shareholders will make the right choice”
The link between Red Bull and AlphaTauri was undoubtedly maintained by the former owner, who died last year, Dietrich Mateschitz. The situation also began to change with the words of Helmut Marko, who expressed himself thus on a possible sale of Alpha: “When you have one team winning the title and the other team only finishing ninth the synergies don't seem to work properly and the overall result is unsatisfactory. Like good businessmen, our shareholders will make the right decision."
AlphaTauri not for sale, the press release
To date, however, AlphaTauri is not sold, as well as the prinicpal Tost team via a statement.
“I had some very positive meetings with Oliver Mintzlaff, who confirmed to me that the shareholders will not be selling Scuderia AlphaTauri and that Red Bull will continue to support the team in the future. All these rumors have no basis. We are at the beginning of a new season and the team must stay focused and work to have better results than last year”.
