On the eve of his home GP, at the Montmelò circuit, Fernando Alonso talks about the support of his compatriots and his expectations for the race. After four third places and a second in the last weekend in Monaco, it is clear that only one result is missing: victory.
That same victory that Alonso hasn't tasted for 10 years and that he arrived for the last time in Barcelona. Red Bull, as always this season, look like the favourites, but Alonso will try to excite the fans and get the famous success number 33 that has been chasing since the beginning of the season. Let's hear what his thoughts are on the matter.
Alonso's words

“The emotions are still intense after the incredible result achieved in Monaco. But now we focus on my home race here in Spain. I can't wait to see all the Spanish fans and those of Aston Martin in great shape to support our team. I hope to see lots of greenery in the grandstands over the weekend. So far we have achieved many third places, one second place in Monaco: the only one we are missing is the top step".
What is missing, therefore, to take the definitive step? “To win, we have to make the most of every aspect of our weekend and capitalize on all the opportunities that come your way. But I'm not obsessed with this and we will enjoy every moment. We have a lot of experience with this circuit, but it's always a good challenge. It will be interesting to race again without a chicane at the end of the lap, and we hope this creates more overtaking opportunities.”
