THEAston Martin was awarded the services of with a great market coup Fernando Alonso, after a series of market entanglements triggered by the announcement of the withdrawal of Sebastian Vettel. With a vacancy and without many expectations towards the Alpine anymore, more interested in making room for young talents, Fernando has decided for the umpteenth time in his life to embark on a new adventure by moving to Aston Martin. A leap into the void given that Alpine, although not competing in the world championship as hoped by the Spaniard, is in full battle for fourth place in the constructors' world championship with the McLaren.
Aston Martin, on the other hand, is on the brink of collapse, in penultimate place in the championship, fresh from yet another difficult year after 2021. On the other hand, however in Aston Martin he arrives as first striker, with Stroll intent on acting as his secretary. However, what raises some suspicion is that, apart from the possibility of having a contract that will allow him to stay, if he wants, for another 3 years in F1, there is nothing else that could suit the Spaniard. Fernando's ambitions are to return to fighting for the top positions, like those of Aston Martin, which however will need time, at least 3-4 years to complete this process. An infinite amount of time considering that Fernando, although he disguises it very well, is no longer a kid.
There is a double purpose?
Alonso's move came like a bolt from the blue for Alpine which had formalized the promotion of Oscar piastri. The young driver has though declined the offer, or rather, the imposition of the team that weaned him for 4 years, with a tweet that went around the world. The French team, now intent on looking for a substitute for the replacement he refused, he is in the middle of a project that at the moment would offer more possibilities than Aston Martin. An idea on Alonso's sudden decision, who did not even notify Alpine of the transfer, journalist Ted Kravitz did it Sky Sports F1. According to him, Alonso would have accepted Lawrence Stroll's proposal aiming to enter the Mercedes orbit. This could allow him to remain in one privileged position in case Lewis Hamilton decided to retire.

"It's quite normal behavior for Alonso, it doesn't surprise me that he bet on a clear improvement in Aston Martin's performance in the coming years“Kravitz said. “One thing that puzzles me a little is that, at best, it will take three years for Aston Martin to win races and compete for the title. At that point, Fernando will be 44 years old. He's in great shape, the break has reinvigorated him and his desire isn't fading, as happened to Sebastian Vettel. But do we really believe that Aston Martin will reach a level that Alpine could never reach? Or is Alonso just looking for something else? If Lewis were to decide to retire, it would be unthinkable Alonso-Russell couple? You might have thought it was unlikely, but as the last few days have shown, anything is possible in F1".
