Fernando Alonso doesn't fit: the pilot of theAston Martin, at the end of a rather particular season, continues his attack on the qualification format. According to the Spaniard, the main event on Saturday, which determines the starting grid for the race on Sunday, has now become too obsolete and has completely lost its charm.
Alonso: “Qualifying in F1 has now become obsolete”
Speaking on the topic of qualifying, Alonso immediately set the record straight, dwelling on it on the evolution of the cars on the track, but not from the format: “I know and have already reported to the team that there is actually only one way to find a solution: single lap qualifying. All other hypotheses can be tested, but I'm not sure they will work. I am sure that the qualifying format which has now become obsolete should be changed. We've been talking about the same guy for 20-25 years, even if the cars are no longer the same. We have hybrid engines and different tasks to do: we have to charge the battery, cool the tires and for this the only way to move forward is to have a single lap available".

“It's the worst session of the weekend, before it was the best”
Qualifying, over the course of this season, has presented some small hiccups more than once: come on delta not respected by the pilots, up to track limits, without forgetting the various problems we had with the impossibility of overtaking when exiting the pits: “We cannot think of having these things and this stress. Once upon a time, when we talked about qualifying, we referred to the most beautiful session of all, in which the cars came to life and we drove super fast cars. Now – continued Alonso – it's the worst session of the weekend: you have to manage the traffic, refer to the track limits or go to the commissioners for an impending or for not having respected the delta".
